Looking to reduce frame stutter and increase FPS in Battlefield 2042? Look no further! In this quick how to video will briefly explain how to enable DirectX12! Still not sure.. Check out the detailed write up below!
Before anything, it is always recommended to create a backup of the ”PROFSAVE_profile” file incase you need to revert. This can also be accomplished if you use Steam launcher. Simply Verify Game files in the games property settings in the Steam launcher.
Let’s begin..
Start by locating your windows file folder and opening it. Next, click the “Documents” folder and find ”Battlefield 2042“ located within & open it. At this point you will see a folder called “settings” open this to locate the folder will be working on called “PROFSAVE_profile”
We can now open “PROFSAVE_profile” by selecting to open it in Notepad or any other compatible program. Once opened you will want to hit (CTRL+F) to open the search prompt. Next, type in the words “DX” and click [Search]. At this time you should find a line called “GstRender.Dx12Enabled” next to this line should be by default the number “0“ which indicates that DX12 is turned off. To enable this, simply replace the 0 with the number 1. Lastly click [File] in the upper left corner and then click [Save].
That‘s it! Start up Battlefield 2042 and get to playing. Keep in mind with DirectX12 the cache will need to be loaded while playing and this might initially cause stutters. This will gradually subside as the cache loads.
